Writing The Book of Life, or any book for that matter, was never my personal intent or vision for my life, but sometimes we are given dreams bigger than our own and with them, the responsibility to carry them out. The Book of Life is one of these dreams. It is something that has far surpassed my own humble aspirations, and I have accepted the calling with honor and humility.  The Book of Life is a novel, fiction based on the words of the Bible. Throughout this story are themes, details, and even direct quotes from the pages of Scripture, and many aspects in this story are accurate to the writings and teachings of the Bible. As you are reading this story, you will notice number endnotes throughout the text. Every time you see one of these references, this is a place where I have used one or more verses of Scripture from the Bible in entirety or in paraphrase. I have definitely taken my creative liberties as a writer, so I encourage you to look up some of these references once you have finished reading The Book of Life. All of the endnotes are included in the back of the book. While many elements in this book are "fiction" and are not illustrated specifically or in such detail as they appear in the Bible, I can't help but wonder if the story didn't actually go a little something like the one I'm telling. As a follower and servant of my King, Jesus, I believe with all my heart that the words of His Bible are true and accurate recordings of history. It's as if the Bible is a puzzle, with all its pieces scattered on a table, but God has shown me how to put the pieces together, and the picture it creates is His story.  The Bible is God's Word and within those words His truth. Therefore, this book, The Book of Life, contains the very words of God. The story of His kingdom, His creation, His power, His love, His redemption, and His return are all true.  If you are uncertain of God's story and the trueness of His words, I encourage you to allow God to tell you His story through the words contained within these pages. This book captivated me from the first chapter! Heather does a masterful job of painting in great detail God's loving acts of creation and salvation. I was left with an overwhelming sense of how much God loves me when I finished the last chapter. A must read for anyone who wants to know, at a gut level, the true character of God.
This book has definitely made it to my top 10 list of 2015. Heather Rae Hutzel, created an exceptional, amazing, beautiful story. After reading this you should not have any doubts that God loves you and you are the Apple of His eye. This is a great book for book clubs to read and it can even be used in a bible study class. This story will have you opening up your bible and seeking to have a better relationship with the King.
I highly recommend this book. Hutzel does an excellent job incorporating scripture into every page of this novel. It is a story told from a very unique perspective. Hutzel beautifully weaves together the creation story and a very sweet present day love story. The book also encompasses present day spiritual warfare. Hutzel has a very insightful perspective of spiritual warfare, and she does an excellent job portraying this throughout the book. This novel will keep you on your toes, anxious to read the next page. There are some interesting twists and turns along each page.
I wasn't sure what to expect when we started to read "The Book of Life" for our book study group. What began in uncertainty grew into a spiritual journey. Not being terribly familiar with the story of creation, I found that Heather's book brought the story alive and was told in “real terms" giving me the enthusiasm to start reading the Bible again. I particularly enjoyed the story of Adam and Abner and how it related to our relationship with God.I would highly recommend Heather’s book as it reveals the wonderful story of creation, and tells a modern day love story in a very readable way. It also encourages us to return to the Bible and explore the story with fresh eyes and open heart.
Well, written. Very engaging. Draws you in by making you feel in the story. So much Biblical truth weaved into a novel story. It's a page turner. Highly recommend.
Thumbs up to Heather Rae Hutzel for this captivating novel which is partiallybased on the Bible, easily the best known book ever composed. Yet Ms. Hutzelmanages to instill originality and the unexpected as she "fleshes out" wellknown but little understood characters and brings them to life as never before.Her book, entertaining and easy to read, is a page turner from prologue tofinish. I highly recommend it for a most enjoyable read as well as a deeplyspiritual experience.
I learned soMany things from this book and in humble adoration of the things of what the LORD taught me from reading this book and doing the bible study I highly recommend this book
