While the writing is well done, I was disappointed in this book because somethings wrong with the formatting and there are several sections that don’t line up. In the first picture we jump from the two main characters bumping into each other and then the very next she’s been injured gravely, they’re no longer on the ship and who knows what else is going on. In the second picture he’s passed out from the pain only to be departing the ship in a rage in the next page. A few pages later he’s back on the ship as if they entire chapter had been out of place. I’m not sure if it’s just my copy of the book or what but somethings wrong with this edition and it’s impossible to read.
This book (novella) totally surprised me! For having not read anything in this series or by this author before, I really liked it! It had me intrigued from the first chapter. The writing style was great! It was full of emotion, and I got a good glimpse of the world in which it takes place. I don't know if these characters make an appearance in any of the other books in this series, but I hope so, because I would love more! The story focused mostly on building relationships rather than action.Overall I really enjoyed Siren's Lure, but ultimately I just wanted more: More swash-buckling, high-seas adventures, more of the Sirenedae people, more sticking it to the Scythians, and more Mer, Hayjen, Lilja, and Blair!One thing that threw me off was that not all the chapters occur in chronological order. There is no indication that we've had a time jump (forward or back), and I have no idea why this was done. To create suspense maybe? I would have preferred to just read all the events in order.
Ok, I really love this series, but I guess I just thought that this novella would be a little more....give more back ground than it did. It was still a very good 'part' of the story but maybe I'm just comparing it to the series as a whole and it fell a bit short with development.
After reading all 3 books in the Aermian Feuds, this was the missing puzzle piece that helped me join the stories together. I would suggest reading this one after book 2...before book 3. It was a page turner just like the others leaving me wanting more of the love story!
This novella gave great insight to Gwen, Haygen, Lilja, Blair, and Mer. It will explain somethings. I'm not going to tell you what is in the book. That's for you to read and find out. I really enjoyed it. I'm off to the third book in this series. I would recommend this book. See you on the flipside.
The story could be good if the chapters weren’t all messed up
I enjoyed the story and finished it really quickly, which means I couldn't put it down. Only complaint had was the going back and forth between present and future. But other than that, really good beginning to a series which has a lot of chances for many different stories!
This was a short but captivating one. I really wish there was more of it or an extended epilogue but nonetheless I enjoyed it. I love a good siren/mermaid story and pirates rock. This was one of those with a twist, this authorities you guessing right up till the end.
