John has written a wonderful handbook for followers of Jesus who want to be better equipped to “always be prepared to give an answer for the hope that you haveâ€.Thanks John!!!
I LOVED this book, right up until Lennox' promotion of the Big Bang in Chapter 5.I was truly taken back when I saw that. Up until that point, Lennox does an excellent job promoting (among other things) the following:1) honoring God's Word.2) distinguishing between 'science' and both naturalism and scientific consensus.3) applying rational thought by following evidence to where it leads.It is exactly those three things, combined with countless hours of research, that settled onto belief in the young earth. I truly believe it is the most rationally sound origins model, has the best explanatory power, and fewest internal inconsistencies. Everything I thought this book would have promoted. Therefore the Big Bang promotion really tainted the rest of the book for me......then I reached chapter six where he gives honor to, and quotes from the 'distinguished scientist' Francis Collins. I had to stop reading at that point. Collins has done far too much to lead people down the 'hasty marriage' called theistic evolution. Seeing him quoted in this book was frustrating.So heads up to fellow believers: this is a fantastic book, and would be worthy of a 5, but those two things make it a 4 at best.
The book is very good. It is easy to read and Lennox explains his positions clearly. I think that reading this book provides an excellent understanding of the Christian position of Lennox. It is a thoughtful read that touches on specific and very important issues, such as who do you mean when you say "God"? Another thing that I really enjoyed in this book is that Lennox urges people to think for themselves. He wants people to follow where the evidence leads. Both science and Christianity are evidence-based. Lennox states that natural law is limited, and he is right. He states that Christianity is not blind faith, and he is also right. In the last section of the book, Lennox discusses the uniqueness of Christianity. That in itself would be a reason to buy this book. There are a lot of people who talk about unbias research, but few are brave enough to identify their bias and set them aside when evidence points to the contrary. Lennox helps to answer the important question, "Can Science Explain Everything?" Science cannot explain why we exist. Saying that we are just "lucky" or that we won the evolutionary lottery does not address this question and presumes a tremendous amount. It certainly does not explain humanity's existence. So, buy this short book and read it. I think that Christian or skeptic will find it an enjoyable intellectual experience.

This is a most fascinating look into the "science vs God" controversy. Well written in an easy to comprehend style, it counters the claims of science with straight forward logic that quietly points out science's failings in the department. I recommend this book highly to all, no matter which side of this issue you are on.
